In a unexpected crossover event that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.

The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
