“It was regrettable. That was essentially an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it unplanned, you can. However, it got corrected pretty quick.”
