It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
